The Olowu of Owu Kingdom, Oba Saka Adelola Matemilola, has appealed for calm and restraint after the alleged burning of the residence of the Baale of Elere-Adubi, Chief Rasheed Adubi, in Ewekoro Local Government Area of Ogun State. He led a delegation of traditional rulers and community leaders on a condolence and peace visit to the community. The delegation included the Towulade of Owu-Akinale, the Alawowo of Awowo, the Olu of Aga Olowo and the Oni Papa of Papalanto.
The Olowu said he felt it was necessary to visit in person, assess the damage and speak with residents. He appealed to them not to take the law into their own hands while the police investigated, and he assured them that the people behind the attack would be tracked down. He commended residents for the patience they had shown despite their anger, and he asked them to continue to support security efforts.
The Towulade of Owu-Akinale said the visit was meant to strengthen efforts to keep the peace in the affected communities, and the Alawowo of Awowo said it would help ease tension. The Olu of Aga Olowo described the Olowu’s intervention as a fatherly effort to restore lasting peace. Youth leaders from neighbouring communities called for justice and urgent action to stop the crisis from spreading. One of them described the Olowu as the paramount ruler and father of the Owu people
